What's in Digestym Standard and Forte, how the capsules work, and how to take them.
A food supplement containing pancreatic enzymes (lipase, protease and amylase) and hemicellulase, in enteric-coated micropellets. These enzymes are involved in the breakdown of fats, proteins, carbohydrates and plant fibres during digestion. It comes in two strengths, Standard and Forte.
The strength. Per capsule, Standard provides pancreatin 119.68 mg (lipase 10,000 Ph. Eur. U, amylase 4,100 Ph. Eur. U, protease 400 Ph. Eur. U) and hemicellulase 80 U. Forte provides pancreatin 296.82 mg (lipase 25,000 Ph. Eur. U, amylase 10,250 Ph. Eur. U, protease 1,000 Ph. Eur. U) and hemicellulase 250 U. Both use the same enteric-coated micropellet delivery.

The gelatin capsule dissolves in the stomach and releases thousands of enteric-coated micropellets. The coating protects the enzymes from stomach acid and dissolves at the higher pH of the small intestine, where the enzymes are released.
